PHP / LAMP Developer (x4), London, Clapham Junction
***The Role:***
The World First (www.worldfirst.com) ICT team is looking to expand its desk with an established Web Developer with 2+ year's commercial experience to assist in the development of our Zend Framework based client facing online applications as well as improving our legacy vanilla PHP based internal FX trading support systems. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join a 10 person strong department at one of the most innovative and fastest growing foreign exchange companies in the UK.
***Responsibilities:***
- Leading the design and subsequent development of application components from both a front-end and back-end perspective.
- Taking ownership of large portions of existing applications and managing ongoing improvement and enhancement of these sections to meet business needs.
- Writing documentation for the portions of applications you are responsible for.
- Identifying potential areas of risk and suggesting mitigating actions.
- Assisting in the planning and estimation of the development team's work.
***Skills and experience required:***
**Essential skills:**
*Expert knowledge of:*
- (X)HTML
- CSS (including CSS3)
- Object Oriented PHP5
*Good working knowledge of:*
- MySQL
- jQuery JavaScript library including the use of AJAX techniques
- Cross browser compatibility and accessibility
- Code repositories (e.g. SVN)
*Basic working knowledge of:*
- Window and Unix CLI
**Preferred but non-essential skills:**
*Good working knowledge of:*
- MVC frameworks, especially Zend
- Basic working knowledge of:
- Bug tracking tools (e.g. Trac)
- Photoshop
**Essential experience:**
- Ability to work within a pre-existing team.
- Extensive experience of web application development.
- Proven skill in developing and managing maintainable code-bases
- Knowledge and experience of accessibility, usability and cross- browser issues
- Experience of working in an environment where products have to be delivered to specific time-scales
- Self-motivated with good organisational skills in order to work to challenging deadlines
- Experience of supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code which was developed by others
- An ability to rapidly and effectively understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions (desirable)
***Other requirements:***
1. UK/EU citizen or other visa with work permit (1year) in the UK. Please do not apply if you do not have this. We cannot make exceptions.
2. Excellent numeracy and literacy and good spoken English
3. Must be available to start working in our office in London within a month of accepting the role.

***Remuneration package:***
£20,000 - 50,000 per annum (commensurate with experience), plus an annual discretionary bonus.
